Alba – Truffle Fair

The enchanting town of Alba, in Piemonte (a.k.a. Piedmont) is hosting its annual [Truffle Fair], dedicated exclusively to Alba’s famous white truffle. The goal of the initiative is to promote, protect and certify the Tuber Magnum Pico brand.

Needless to say, gastronomy is at its best. The white truffle is the main protagonist on all the menus, adding that special flavour to carefully selected local ingredients. The famous wines of the area, Barbera, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barolo, and Dolcetto will complete an ultimate sensorial experience.

Special events and games enliven the days. The Alba flag-wavers group brings back the traditions that used to brighten up important ceremonies between the 12th and the 18th century. The Donkey Palio race is the highlight, introduced by a procession of more than a thousand characters, including noblewomen, knights, soldiers, commoners and peasants. Trumpets, rolling drums, standards and flags add excitment and colour.

A unique tour can introduce you to this decade-long tradition, where the eye meets the palate.
