Day 1 • Torino - Valle di Po, Italy
Meet your UIAGM guide at Torino Caselle Airport and transfer by private vehicle to the trailhead in Valle di Po. After purchasing some picnic food, we start the hike towards the rifugio (mountain hut), where we overnight. Following the Po River upstream, we reach its spring, surrounded by a peatary, unique in its kind in the whole of the Alps. Continuing uphill, we pass grazing pastures and beautiful emerald-green alpine lakes, hike across a large moraine, meandering amongst boulders, and reach the rifugio. Dinner and overnight at the rifugio, located below the majestic east face of Monviso and offering open panoramic views of the planes. |

Day 2 • Summit climb - Salluzzo
This is a very long day, which begins with an early start (usually about 4:00 a.m., but exact time is at the discretion of the guide). After breakast, a nice path takes us to the first challenging stretch of the climb: a vertical rock face with fixed ropes and chains. The route then descends into a bowl, strewn with boulders, and up again to a bivouac. Here the real climb begins, all the way to the summit. After a well-deserved rest to take in the splendid 360°, we retrace our steps all the way back where we started on Day 1, arriving in the late afternoon. Meet the private vehicle and transfer to Saluzzo, where you overnight. Option to spend tonight at the rifugio and transfer to Saluzzo, or directly to Torino Caselle Airport on Day 3. |

Torino, first capital of Italy, is a beautiful and elegant baroque city. It houses some outstanding museums, including the largest Egyptian Museum outside of Cairo and the Museum of Italian Cinema. This year it celebrates the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. |
